What Covid Precautions have we taken?

In order to provide you with a safe environment at our clinic, we are staying consistent with the latest guidance from public health advisories regarding the COVID-19 pandemic.
 
Here are some changes we have made:
1. Staff members will be required to complete a health questionnaire and temperature check 
 
2. Doctors and Staff will be provided with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
 
3. Equipments and surfaces will be disinfected before each patient in order to ensure a safe exam experience.
 
4. Patients will be screened for COVID-19 symptoms when booking appointments and when they arrive at the office. Temperatures will also be taken. 
 
5. Masks are mandatory in office to ensure everyone's safety. If you do not have a mask, we will provide you with one for free. 
 
6. Hand sanitizing stations will be available in the office. You will be required to sanitize your hands when you enter.

Question 2

Does OHIP cover my eye examination?

Accepted Answer

As of 2004, patients between 20-64 years of age will NOT be covered by OHIP unless you are diabetic or have specific eye diseases/conditions. If you are unsure about your eligibility for OHIP coverage, please feel free to call and ask us!

Patients 19 years old and under
Patients 65 years old and over

Question 3

Do you take private/work insurance?

Accepted Answer

Yes, our office will be able to do direct billing to your insurance company on your behalf.

Question 4

I see 20/20, should I still get my eyes examined?"

Accepted Answer

The short answer is Yes. Seeing 20/20 does not necessarily mean that eye health is perfect. The best examples of this would be diseases such as macular degeneration and glaucoma. Initial onsets of these diseases may not cause any noticeable changes in vision. However, once changes do occur and become apparent, the damage is permanent and changes to vision is irreversible!
 
For this reason, eye care is not only about seeing 20/20 but more importantly, early detection and prevention!

Why do exam fees vary from clinic to clinic?

While most standard eye examinations are similar, fees can vary between clinics depending on the types of testing that are available and done during your visit. These extra testings allow us to provide you with a more in depth and detailed examination to help with early detection and prevention of vision and ocular problems.

Question 6

How often should I get my eyes examined?

Accepted Answer

In general, it is recommended that everyone should get their eyes checked every 2 years in order to ensure that your eyes are healthy. However, this is also dependent on several other factors such as age, visual needs, systemic and ocular medical history as well as family eye history.
 
According to the Canadian Association of Optometrist, the following is a general guideline:
 
- Ages 3 to 19 years old: Annually
- Ages 20 to 64 years old: Every 1-2 years depending on systemic and ocular health
- Ages 65 years old and up: Annually
- Patients with Lasik/Refractive surgery: Annually
 
While this is the general guideline, frequency of visits can vary depending on the health of the patient. For example, patients with glaucoma or diabetes may require more frequent visits.

Does your office do examinations for OACP or driver's test?

Yes. Our office is equiped with everything that is indicated in the requirements.
